TENIS
Developed on behalf of Tecnatom, Spain, this free-floating manipulator is designed to be small enough to enter the containment building via a personnel air lock.
Developed on behalf of Tecnatom in Spain, TENIS is a free-floating manipulator designed to be small enough to enter the containment building via a personnel airlock and be deployed from the refueling floor using a mobile crane rather than the reactor building polar crane.
Once lowered into the reactor pool the manipulator has an equivalent mass of just 5Kg to ensure that it can be easily deployed by an ROV or using manipulation poles. Once located in the nozzle, the unit clamps itself into position and the ROV can carry out other duties.
TENIS holds up to ten ultrasonic probes and can inspect nozzle to shell weld, nozzle inner radius, and the safe end weld to the primary circuit pipework. The use of the TENIS manipulator results in a reduced inspection time, reduced waste from decontamination post-inspection, and independence from the polar crane.
