Nuclear Power Inspection

Phoenix has over 30 years’ experience designing inspection systems for the nuclear sector. We offer both standard and bespoke products, and supply utilities and inspection providers worldwide with equipment for the pre and in-service inspection of primary circuit components, from the reactor pressure vessel through to secondary coolant loop piping.

Phoenix provides systems for pressurized water reactors (PWR, EPR), boiling water reactors (BWR) and advanced gas cooled reactors (AGR). Since 2002 Phoenix has been involved with the development of the experimental fusion reactor ITER, designing inspection techniques for the inner wall of the pressure vessel and the pressure vessel segment welds. Current work is focusing on the application of robotics. Phoenix was involved in NozzleInspect, a €1.4m EU-funded research project, and an EPSRC programme to develop autonomous vehicles and portable robotic arms. We are also supporting clients in the development of portable robotic systems for the inspection of critical nuclear components.
